The Codex, which is part of the Corpus iuris civilis ordered by the emperor Justinian for the reorganization of the Empire’s juridical system, collects the emperors’ constitutions issued from the age of Adrian to Justinian himself. The fragment here presented, datable to the first half of the fourteenth century and including the text with the gloss, is written in the typical Bologna university script. In 1523 it was used as cover board for some breviaturae of the notary Antonio di Luca Belloni, in years when this text could already be easily found printed. Antonio Belloni from Udine was, among other things, at the cardinal Domenico Grimani’s, patriarch of Aquileia, service as his particular secretary. Other fragments of juridical texts kept at the State Archives of Udine belonged to the same notary.
